About Fischer Bros & Leslie

Fischer Bros. & Leslie opened its doors on 72nd street in 1949. Large volume and long term relationships with our suppliers have enabled us to consistently procure the highest quality merchandise for our customers.  Our reputation is based upon quality, service and kashruth.

As New York's foremost kosher market, Fischer Bros. & Leslie offers a complete selection of prime beef, veal, lamb and fresh poultry daily. We also carry an extensive selection of prepared foods, frozen items, packaged provisions and groceries.  We have a complete selection of packaged cheeses, many sauces, side dishes and desert items.

We are an old fashioned full service butcher shop.  Each item is carefully prepared and wrapped to your preferences.  Whether it's cutting a formidable two inch thick rib steak, or individually wrapping your butterflied boneless chicken cutlets, just ask and we can make it happen.

Morris and Louis Fischer first opened our shop in 1949 and were later joined by a young survivor of the Holocaust, Leslie (Lutzi) Niederman.  When Leslie joined the partnership, he was known to our customers by his first name and hence Fischer Brothers & Leslie was born.  The Fischer brothers have long since passed on but Leslie remained active in the business until his recent passing on July 7, 2008.  The store is currently managed by Leslie's son, Steve Niederman, and son-in-law, Paul Whitman.
