Our Story: A Tradition of Excellence Since 1949
In 1949, Morris and Louis Fischer opened a small butcher shop on West 72nd Street with a simple mission: to provide New York City with the finest kosher meats and unparalleled service. Not long after, they were joined by Leslie (Lutzi) Niederman, a Holocaust survivor whose dedication and spirit quickly made him a partner and a pillar of the community. Thus, Fischer Brothers & Leslie was born.
For over 75 years, we have maintained our reputation as New York’s foremost Kosher market. While the faces in the shop have changed over the decades, our commitment to Quality, Service, and Kashruth remains unshakable.
We pride ourselves on being a true, old-fashioned full-service butcher shop. Whether you need a formidable two-inch-thick rib steak or individually wrapped butterflied chicken breasts, our expert butchers prepare every order to your exact specifications. From prime beef, lamb, and poultry to our homemade gourmet prepared foods and fresh baked goods, we bring the best of the tradition to your table.
Today, we continue to honor the legacy of Leslie, and the vision of Paul and Donald by bridging our rich history with the needs of the modern kitchen.
